CONSCIOUSNESS FORUM in 2007
I used to have a painful dream which I guess I haven't resolved. I use to dream that a nuclear missile attack was coming to my city. So it was my idea to try to escape the impending destruction. But first I'd always try to rescue my mom grandmother and other relatives. I'd was never successful at doing this, petty bickering, fights prevented U.S from doing anything in the dream. So at the last minute I'd try to escape, anywaqy I could and would be always caught in the Nuclear blast has the missile hit.
In my life at my late age (45) I sort of find myself in this situation, where I sort of feel the need to escape, but I'm relucent to do it. I maybe be paranoid, but the danger signs are there. I'm afraid of leaving because it might present a danger to some of my relatives. My mom might not make it with some but not very many able people to trust or to help her. People are even threatening to harm her if I leave.
If I stay then I'm threatened with destruction I guess unless if I comply with their demands. Seems like I'm being harrassed by the whole community, with very little help out here that I'm aware of. What should I do? Its almost unbearable to stay here and the forcers that are corrupting this society are getting stronger seems to me. Iguess my mother figures on me staying around to her her, but I'd have probelm with well-being, and even supporting myself if I stay here.
I guess there is a time for goodbyes. My mother has been mostly the only meaningful person I knew. To have something bad happening to her because of the tyranny of stupid, evil men, as a threat against me, I'd have a hard time forgiving myself.

Dreamed of being in an enclosed space made of brick. Assumed it was a jail or prison. The top was uncovered so helped a crippled person who I thought was guiltless escape, along with myself 2 bad men who seemed to really belong there tried to stop us but were unsuccessful.
When out, I flew to the top of a house and climbed in the window. It came to me that people had accused me of killing someone in this room.

Several days later a dream came to me that I had asked about entering the Martial Arts competition. They said there were no rules and it was bare fisted. I surprised myself by entering and even more surprised that one after another I beat everyone... about 5 people.
I wondered is this all they got? That was not as hard as I thought it would be. I was happy to be the winner for a change.

D. Brown, What I would like to do is ask around for how to get you some of these video files, or audio files, at least some of the older podcasts.
The new broadcasting is www.justin.tv/strephon which are flash files you watch from the webpage. I don't know if you have to download them, or you just watch them as a stream that stays with the web page and do not have to be downloaded.
Skype is a free phone connecting through the web so should work with your modem. It allows files to be sent but I don't know how well that would work with your slow modem. So try and do the www.justin.tv/strephon page first. It has 27 of my latest talks on it. Let us know, okay?

Sex Dream: Two girls were standing to one side of me. It seems we had been on a 'date.' One of them said It's time to choose. I said, I was just about to make my move. I put my arm around the one closest to me with blonde hair and next we're having sex.
This dream might be interesting because the line I said was the line spoken by the cowardly and greedy character whose name is Limbo in the 2001 remake of The Planet of the Apes.
Other reasons why it might be interesting is that he says in his human pet shop..."Get rid of them before they mature. The last thing you want is a human teenager running around your house." Which is what I feel happened to me when I was growing up. And I'm trying to start a business.
A quote related to that is something he says to a group of children: "Who wants to buy some aspirin?"
I wonder how the dream is suggesting what I should do to make money if anything. Sell to children? Sell aspirin? Sell to adults products for children? A children's gamelan comes to mind. I don't see myself as greedy or cowardly.
But asking myself in what ways am I greedy or cowardly if any? Strephon was pushing my buttons when he implied that just because I didn't earn the money, I also don't deserve it which I feel is not the case at all.
The day I had this dream was the day I had a date set up to go out with a nice girl. It went well. She spent a lot of time touching me during the date and we saw each other again since and have plans to go out again.

FLYING DREAMS AS THE NEED FOR GREATER PERSPECTIVE - Yes, Greg, from what you say here it looks like you are grounding yourself in numbers, like money, like the right companionship.
May I suggest that sometimes it takes many, many try-outs to get to the right partner, so that don't count the numbers of those that don't fit you, or call them rejections. Keep going and who knows exactly when the right one for you comes along?
Sometimes people find the right vocation through their dreams. Another dreamwork method is to close your eyes and go back into your flying dream and use its potential fully by using its flight capabilities.
Your quest is to build with the investment money, but still the other potential richness is in your dreams. When you reenter your dream where does that take you? Let the process take you somewhere.
The goal through dreamwork is to develop our intuitive sense so that we operate from it daily.
One Netherlands student did make lots of money. The way he described the process was intuitive. He just knew he could do it. It was easy for him to make money. He also had the capacity to see things through what he dreamed.
Message: develop the intuitive sense. Fly for broader perspective. Don't get bogged down in the details of present life regarding business or intimate relationship. Don't push too hard to find the right girl. Let the right girl find you, but know it as it is happening. Let the right business find you. What comes easily? Don't push the river, flow with it.
Thus if your flying dream presents the possibility of doing things easily, doing that which is easy or natural to you, or pushing too much to do that which is hard? See the difference? Good luck!!!
Strephon, World - Wednesday, November 07, 2007 at 11:56:18 (CET)
I have to start a successful business or I will run out of money. Investing that money in unsuccessful businesses will significantly shorten the amount of time able to be spent learning the ropes. However, the potential payoff is worth the risk of 2 or three failed businesses. Anyway, I would have run out of money in 10 years anyway. It wasn't that much. Starting and running a successful business is one of the mountains to be climbed as well as acquiring a constant mate. One girl I want is holding me off. Been dating a lot to find someone ready now. Too much rejection. I have spent lots of time with a webdesigner putting a site together for my business as well as other plans to market the products. Spending the money on plastic surgery seems wasteful. I'm hoping my business will be able to pay for that expense.

FLYING DREAMS - When we look at what our flying in a dream is about for us in the dream we can see into its meaning for us.
Greg, did you say before you got money from your father and so now you are independent? If so, the danger of having money we did not earn is that it weakens us. When things become too easy because of not having to struggle for our material existence we still have the problem of our meeting the challenges of life on other levels.
Maybe having an unattractive bump below your nose can be changed with plastic surgery. Why be caught in what is difficult for you? Is it getting a girl to commit to you or getting yourself to commit to life?
When we have flying dreams we can ask ourselves, what task in life are we not facing? What mountain in your life needs climbing? Please don't use the umbrella to get there!
Women seem attractive because they represent the Life Force. Mating does not conquer life. Achievement within life does.
Find yourself something of sufficient challenge. Apprentice to a master. Sweat and struggle. Don't dwell on what you feel unable to do. Do more than you think you can do.
Are we in tune? The teacher is there when we are ready to be challenged.
Don't forget to view my talks on www.justin.tv/strephon. This is maybe the help I can give now. Take care.
Strephon, World - Tuesday, November 06, 2007 at 20:28:35 (CET)
I dreamed I could fly with the aid of an umbrella and the wind. I was heading to the top of a mountain.
A little boy I passed along the way expressed disbelief in my ability to get there.
I was able to psych him up and his belief helped mine so I was able to fly again which was convenient because it was much faster.
I was flying over a foreign country when I saw a girl whose shirt was cut very wide and low down the back. I could see all her skin down to her butt crack :D.
Unfortunately, that was too intense for me and I woke up. RATS! Never made it to the top of the mountain. Didn't embrace the girl.
But visualized both when I woke up. Thinking of going to the top of Mt. Agung here in Bali to help actualize the dream.
Getting a woman to commit to me in the outer life has been an issue for a long time. And heck, just having sex since I moved to Bali.
I have an unfortunate raised area under my nose that makes an otherwise attractive face ugly.

DON'T JUST GO INTO THE UNCONSCIOUS - COME OUT OF IT INTO EVERYDAY LIFE - Emmett, we keep building our self-identity in the real world and our skills.
Of course if when there is a chance to make full sexual contact we don't do it, we have a wounded memory we are trying to resolve. Some dreams are the attempt to replay forward the experience that went wrong.
Dreamwork it for some inner healing by fantasizing yourself not being so drunk and somehow getting through the contact with your getting naked and sexually united with this woman you like, and who liked you in that moment.
It doesn't help to get drunk, does it, because then we lose contact with ourselves and others.
I had a relationship with a Norway woman who had a drinking problem. She did have a bout of losing it, but recovered and made her life simple. Eventually she found a partner and rebalanced herself and her life.
We rework our unfulfilled experiences with inner fantasy. If it feels safe for you to let go with shamanic music, the suggestion is to be sure and come back from the inner journey you go on. In trance work you can evoke positive guides. You can limit your time there. You can have someone present with you, inner or outer. And make the transition back to this everyday, outer world. And describe your trips or trips in words, drawings, to someone. This grounds you again in the world of outer experience, and in your body.
If you are afraid of going off the deep edge don't do things that take you so deep you cannot get back. Find outer guides also to support you. Look for the treasure, but create something with it.
But if you go too far out on the imaginary trips of your inner being, and even the collective unconscious, then how will you get back alone?
One of my students I had to order to go chop wood, which he did with his brother. He had gotten too involved with his imagery, his inner world.
We recommend you bring dream and inner content out into actual life living and relationships, work and so on. We don't recommend that you go further and further into the unconscious until it's too hard to come back to everyday life.
I don't really know what you are doing with yourself, but you have to find your own way, make your commitment to yourself to handle your existence. Find some masculinity and pull yourself together. I cannot take any responsibility for trying to help you with words. Let's have some action!
That's as far as we can take it here.

Hello again in listenig to alpha music to relax and destress should i leave the alpha staet when i am relaxed and not use the energy to produce in ternal experience. i generelly feel quite peaceful doing this method of relaxation and have enjoyed the resulting images i tend to just reflect on my life like a sort of source immersion. you recommend music as a way of recharging but i use it to remove excess chi from my head. i know there are other ways of doing this (dreamwork being one of them).i suppose i should just use the music to relax recharge and than reenter beta and ordinary thinking. rather than spending it all tripping to the detriment of my psychological health. with regards shamanic journeying the author said one should always have a clear intention when doing it and not to embark on it lightly. by the way with regards the sarah dream i did not actually sleep with her and maybe subcon i chickened out due to drunken impotence. and left at 4pm but i was torn between the past and the future and i couldnt trust the future adn had the notion that if i could resist this girl it would prove to the other the strenght of my feelings. but looking back at it felt right being with sarah and she liked me unlike the other girl. she undressed and lay naked on my lap but either drunken impotence or my stupid idea prevented me. i must have really hurt her feeelings and would probably never have the chance again. i think she may have even spread rumors about my sexuality fueling my paranioa which later developed into psychosis

SHAMANIC DREAMING TO DRUMS - What is it? Emmett asks this question. Is it Lucid dreaming?
The way lucid dreamers or shamanic dreamers label their own internal experiences is subjective, not objective, since no human observer can be there with them observing. In a dream group the rest of us can see how the dreamer is having his or her experience of working with the dream. So we have both the external effects of doing dreamwork with the dream, and the dreamer has his or her internal experience of the dream.
In fact we don't know, do we, that the dream reported is the same as the one actually dreamed, since these are two different experiences not happening together, the dreaming and the sharing after of the dream.
The point is that no one outside or inside can apply a collective label to an internal experience. Someone says, oh, I had a shamanic dream! Okay, now what are you going to do? Become a shaman? Or just keep telling people you had a shamanic dream?
So of course you see I can't comment specifically on what kind of this or that someone is having when in fact it is their own internal experience and not mine. What I say in general is that doing dream reentry going back into the dream with eyes closed usually does lead to a person being in a trace state where images and feelings happen much as in a dreaming experience.
I do know from working with people that they can get lost when in a trance or dream state, which means they lose the power to perceive the difference between inner and outer reality, at least for the moment. People get paralyzed, keep their eyes closed and seem to be somewhere else, maybe awake with eyes open but non-responsive, and generally report after of being somewhere else with a story that is not what was happening in their outer life at the moment.
When people are in this trance state I still work with them to eventually help them come back to their everyday selves and to do some integrative and conscious work with what happened while they were in their trance.
Too much trance work and a person becomes ineffective in everyday life and maybe stays in their unconscious. Studies of shamans found that when going through the induction ritual to become a shaman a number of them died. Only the ones who survived their ordeal and came back to village life were treated as healers, because they had survived the great forces of the unconscious, or the archetypes of inner life.
Generally, it is better to go into trance with a guide, a human person who stays alert and conscious with you as you let go. Just induced trance with drumming may be crazy-making and someone will have to guide you back to everyday reality, if you don't have a way to do it yourself.
Yes, there are powerful methods, but are there equally powerful chosen purposes for using these methods?
By the way, Emmett, I used one of your dreams shared here to do some dreamwork with for people in my new program at justin.tv. Just to mention again that by sharing here everyone is acknowledging that we can use their content for educational purposes. I think you might get some insight from the way I talked about some of the issues in your shared dream. Some things of course may not apply to you.
The other thing that can go wrong in doing trance work, especially without focus or a guide, is that you lose the ability to structure yourself and see yourself as a person. This is why we emphasize the dreamer in the dream, the only dreamwork approach to do so, which I have been doing for forty years now.
Thanks again for sharing, Strephon, World - Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 23:41:03 (CEST)
I tried shamanic journeying to a drumming tape a few times they say you can fly and dive to great depths go to the upper world and recieve advice from beings there or go to the lowr world for empowerment is this lucid dreaming or meaningful?

Thank you Strephon for your reply. Yes I have had dreams definitely referring to my task and its outcomes when presented. In the future I will do a web page showing the dream carvings and their stories and meanings. Also I think becoming a member of the 'Association for Dream Studies' may present opportunities for interacting with professionals in the field. I think the answer is a peer/mentor or group of professionals in the field of dreamwork that can see my stuff, hear the stories, and the dreams, and provide feedback on the more complex issues of 'individuation', transformation of the 'God image', 'ego-Self' axis/relations etc. It's a little bit like the initiated shaman who goes to the shaman group to recount his experience prior to admittance into the circle. On the 'strong' and the 'weak' issue, it's more like recieving in a dream-vision a gift or power that one must then use for the benefit of the community. It's the cross cultural context that constellates its own set of special problems. On the red side there has already been something of an induction, but I need something on the white side.
One cross/cultural workshop with an 'Indian' co facilitator was for a group of German & Swiss, two Swiss psychiatrists were present. One said that my understanding of dreams were right up there with Jungian analysts, and suggested I meet with a Jungian from the Zurich institute who visits Vancouver on a lecture circuit, to show them my carvings and explain what i do.

THE REALITY FUNCTION - The reality function is a name for our being more and more able to be effective in our experience of life.
EFFECTIVENESS is a measure of how much what we intend actually happens for us. Is what we intend actually happening for us in our lives?
In the dreamwork just shared the sorting out of ones attitudes as revealed in the dream about relating to another sexually and intimate we see the building of the reality function.
The dream points out the dreamer's reality picture of what his attitudes towards sexual relating are and how well they work, or don't work, to have results of his actions towards women, using here a woman he has related to.
The more we build our reality picture on what actually happens to us and through us in direct experience, the more effective in life in fulfilling ourselves we will be.
UNREALISTIC ATTITUDES OR REALISTIC ATTITUDES? - Building the reality function is based on processing yours and other people's experiences into a view of things based on your experiences.
People with weak reality functions build their pictures of reality in a mixture of their fantasies and what they think of actual experiences they are having.
This is created a flawed reality view. Yes, we may create our own reality, in the sense that we create unconsciously and consciously a picture or reality, what happens here in this dream we we try to sexually and emotionally relate to someone, and what seems to happen from their side of things also.
DREAMWORK FOR THE DREAM - Something more with the dream that can be done to build an experiential reality viewpoint:
- Make a list of ten to twenty things that you have insights about regarding women you have approached for some sexual relating.
- Make a list of a number of items about who you think you are as a possible lover for a woman you feel attracted to.
- Once the list is made you can see how these two lists have similarities and contrasts.
Just on the issue of having sexual intercourse with someone. Humans have sex together, but do they even know what they feel about their having sex, what their role is, what they think they are supposed to feel and what they actually feel?
- Be as much in the moment as possible. It's in the dream and the shared dreamwork. Okay, you have sex with someone or refuse to have sex with someone. Then there is no more sex. Why not try then in your sexual encounters to be in the moment on it. What are you experiencing in the moments you and the other are making contact? Share that. Ask about it with your companion of the moment.
A nice line is, if true to you in the moment, 'I'm feeling some good energy being with you right now? Are you feeling something similar? Just what are you feeling, or experiencing, being with me right now? What's are energy like together? Here is my take on it. Want to hear it?'
Rather than saying, hey, I want to have sex with you, why not say more, 'right now this is what I am feeling or experiencing being with you.'
'Want to have sex?' just is not a true statement. People mean all sorts of things for the word sex. Also, if you are in a feeling space, how can you say ahead of time that you want to have sex with somebody? You can only say while having sex or right after, I sure like having sex with you.
The only point here is not to live from attitudes and surmises. Be with somebody and take the experience you are having right there together in that moment. Don't project expectations or artificial reality pictures into the situation or you will tend to make relating to you feel weird.
DREAMWORK REALITY - So we use our dreams to see what the dream source indicates how we are experiencing our desires, our attitudes, and what our reality picture of of here sexual relating.
Purify the picture by basing it on reality. This being in the moment of experience now means you can act there according to what is being generated as experience. People who miss out on direct experiencing seem to project unrealistic reality pictures onto the situation. Girls are like this. Or a certain woman is like this. Calling someone an ex may be just a label that takes you out of immediate experience of this person met again now.
CONCLUSION
As part of your dreamwork you can sort through attitudes based on direct experience from attitudes based on desire, what you want, labels, expectations and projections.
A reality picture becomes a useful tool for effectiveness in life if you consciously construct it on what you yourself find out about your experiences.
I love sexual-love relating because it evokes so many of our attitudes, many of them not true to actual experience at all.
Whatever happens out there in my relating, does the person relate to me or not, I am always learning from how I process myself living my experiences.
Thus whomever I end up relating to significantly is not my final choice. I participate in the bonding process. I learn more and more about myself fitting into reality. I don't waste that much time on what is not working, or not wanted. I keep learning and becoming more effective. I am more and more in reality as it is.
Then whatever reality gives me, that is what I have.

Dream: I was in a supermarket looking for chocalate brownies. John daly would come along and squash the brownies i was both amused and annoyed by this. Sarah dee, an ex girl i met and was intimate with for a night but it didnt continue because iwas hung up on another girl( silly me), she was smiling and looking at me she looked different and seeemed to heave put on some weight. i was abit in awe nevertheless.trying to find her i was going to stand on a ladder to find her and proclaim my love.
Dreamwork synopsis: similarities; wanting sarah and food; contrasts john annoyed amused sarah in awe slightly intimadated; doing looking for brownies desparately not talking to sarah.
Key answers: to cultivate the possibility of relationship; i dont want to deal with the world to that extent or i am not yet able to.
Inspires? that a woman could love me if i am able to support her finanncially and socially.
Non action: not approaching her; a bit embarasssed or afraid that i might have hurt her feelings by not sleeping with her because i thought i needed my ex.
i dont have a job; paranoia hearing people call me names.
New attitudes: you can be attracted to ex girlfriends; but if they dont want to be with you you cant force them its better to be with someone who wants to be with you go beyond the past to the presnet and future; work toward the possibility of relationship; wheter in realtionship or not you can still enjoy sexual attraction.
Dream reentry: said hello to sarah i said you've grown your hair long; than her handwome smiling well adjusted boyfreiend appears; and realising this i feel a mixed sense of sadness or loss; than i say to myself theres plenty more fish in the sea and put something on the shelf; (do i have a job?)
to sum up:
-
if you cant fullfill a girls needs and wants shell find someone who can if shes sensible
i dont want ot be a womaniser or celibatereally or schizophrenic
-
writer use my imagination to make money but do i want to a rationalist?
- Gopi krishna yogi writer
last night i started doing art on my pc again.
we wouldnt be human without our map of reality as long as we keep in mind we have created it.

MENTAL ILLNESS AS A DREAM
Having worked with dreamers and mentally unbalanced people who are also dreamers, the biggest difference seems to be that the mentally unbalanced person has less ego control and development. They become their unconscious. They identify almost completely with their images.
One manic-depressive woman who kept working with herself over the years shared a recent nightmare that she was floating on her back and the current was taking her out to sea.
Our dream enactment to help train her was to enact her floating out to sea by four in the group holding her on their shoulders and swaying gently as the waves carrying her out to sea.
Just this act of her letting go to trust her mental situation and her dream imagery then gave her an experience of acceptance and trust that she would be all right when her bouts with the unconscious came.
The other benefit for her was that she was instructed to call out for turning around and coming back to shore when she had experienced enough her 'going out.'
This also helped train her that she had more ability to affect her situation than she thought.
Coming back to shore is coming back to normalcy.
While we said that our reality pictures are symbol systems and not necessarily all that is out there, we also say here that we all need to construct reality pictures we can usually depend on.
In this case we were building her ego by giving her the experience of having choice, rather than just drifting with her unconscious.
A mentally ill person usually has at one time preferred to have experiences in the fantasy world of the unconscious, and then they tend to get stuck there.
Now the big choice that can be made is to say no to going into that world and yes to living in the outer world of relationships, work, normal behavior, but also bringing ones rich imagination to creating experiences of value in the normal world.
Thus in dreamwork and in mental work, build a reference point, an ego identity that is real world oriented, that uses choice, that commits to values to live by, that builds a ground under oneself.
NOTE: - A gentle reminder to share a recent dream when also presenting issues since this is the focus of this forum. We connect to each other through sharing and working with dreams. Sometimes I share my own dreamwork here also.

just to clarify: they said as long as i could control my mood i wasnt even schizoaffective. so im pretty much just an occassional voice hearer who needs to work on himself.

Thanks for the reply Strephon. You speak of reality pictures like reality tunnels (Robert anton wilson). Becoming responible for or own programming by opening up to that creative source within rather than being totally programmed by external systems reality pictures. I am no longer diagnosed as schizophrenic( in fact it was schizoaffective they said) and my medication has been reduced reawakining my brain! Im older and wiser now but at the same time im trying to find my feet. the world of imagination has always held some fascination with me since childhood i cut of from it when i became mentally unwell in an effort to be "good". i wouldnt even listen to music and trip along with it in case i would become unwell. but this caused energy to build up painfully in my head. i had some confused ideas in my head for example i practised meditation qi gong but wouldnt use my rational mind because i took a line in abook out of context "When the mind is not involved in problem solving it should be still and at rest" mine was not a peacefull rest. first i burned myself out by overspending myself than i became too passive and that didnt work. one day i threw on the sleepy hollow soundtrack and by the time it was over i felt great i had had a blast so to speak. active passive yang yin.here i am now.

REALITY AND DREAMS - If I said in a moment of foolishness nothing is real out there, who am I to talk such ultimates as if they were facts?
Let's just say that 50 years of regular dreamwork with myself and 35 years with other people and their dreams leads me to question our definitions and pictures of reality.
If we call out there 'the real world,' then what do we call our own mind thoughts, images and total bodily feelings?
What I do know is that with dreamwork we see that the dream ego, the image and actions of ourselves in our dreams, is only about one seventh of the total dynamics in the dream.
So the ego's point of view in the dream is one seventh of the total view and understanding of the dream itself. The ego's view is a vital view, but there are always several views of the dream's happenings, according to the different characters in the dream.
I prefer also to use my dreams along with outer life experiences as a multiple point of view of the reality perspective I live in as I conduct, not just my life, but also my existence.
The subjective premise as I define it says that my view, my reality picture, limits what I experience consciously in any given moment of my life, inner and outer.
Thus my crass way of saying nothing is real out there is another way of saying that what we usually believe as real is what we already have constructed and labeled.
You are not seeing reality. You are seeing your picture of reality.
If you define 'real' as just what is there, then the outer life is as much a projection of inner life as the inner life receives its 'projections' and inputs from outer life that it has to deal with.
Imagine that every day of your existence your inner center is receiving from other people their projections onto you regarding your existence. You are molded by other's projections as much as you mold others to fit your projections.
We have also the energy fields that radiate out from plants and even rocks, from insects and other animals than ourselves. We are commanded as much as commanding.
My wild pigeon brings me to feed it as much as I think of myself as going to feed my wild pigeon. My human lover has me act out her psyche while I also have her acting out my psyche.
Thus it seems I am presenting to all of us the view that dreams and dreamwork lead me to redefine reality always as a blending of inner and outer.
For the perceptive conscious person, they have an advantage in seeing reality as it is, for they can be a lot more effective in their everyday, life choices.
The truly conscious person is not the enlightened person that religions might proclaim. The truly conscious person operates in both worlds, inner and outer.
The ego world is not dominant. The world of desire and instincts is not dominant. The world of physical happenings is not dominant. Symbolic worlds are not dominant.
Synchronicity is not a few events interacting in the same point of time. It is all events interacting around a center that contains them and unites them.
When we view the dream we view not just inner happenings but outer happenings. We live also in a centering kind of time-transcendence.
But with most 'experts' on dreams they try and assert ego dominance, in such statements as your dream is all parts of yourself, or your dream reflects your outer life, or your dream is labeled this or that.
Why dominate with your mind such a powerful source experience?
Never assume you know what is happening out there and can control it. Never assume you know what is happening in your dream and can control it.
The fundamental flaw of lucid dreaming is the assumption that the controlling part of ourselves, the ego, can control or direct other parts of what is happening in the dream. This is a distortion of reality, of the total field, as if one button, the ego desire, controls the whole field.
Thus it would be arrogance to assume we know fully what outer life is, or what inner life is, or what dream life is, or what love life is, or what death life is.
Why? Because you would have to engage in the fallacy of taking a point of view from one part or place in the whole, whereas who can encompass the whole of which ego consciousness is only a part?
Lucid dreamers want to control and they want to become great dreamers, as if through controlling the dream scape they have special powers.
This is not science. It is arrogance. But I speak as a psychologist who works with people who get mixed up on their different realities.
God save us from our reality pictures, but is there even a God force that can do this?
Our reality pictures are themselves, it seems, symbol systems, labels with which we try and sort raw experience and make it workable to our wills.
Religions also paint for their followers reality pictures that are symbol systems. The Dalai Lama wearing costumes and doing rituals? Come on now! This is a symbol system, another kind of dream made by ego to control dynamic energy forces at work.
Why I work with dreams is that they seem more dynamic, fluid, spontaneous, less under control of ego desire, than religious or collective symbol systems.
We have to say that all great symbol systems like those that define a country's culture and citizenship identity, and like those that religions manufacture to get followers, are rationally made ego reality pictures designed to give identity to and control followers.
Active dreamers who dreamwork their own dreams don't need collective symbol systems.
We will let it go at that for now.

DREAM PROJECTS AND INNER GUIDES - Alan, replying to your Dream Arrow project, or whatever you feel to call it, I can say that a number of my regular dreamers who have worked with me over the years did have special ongoing projects that originated with their dreams.
Following the dream is an inner training of ones deeper self, following the guidance of dreams.
Some people work on their dream themes in art. I assume you have done so. If you have a blog, or can make one, such as the free ones from Bogger or WordPress, then you can put your dream art up, write about your dream themes and illustrate them.
In our Jungian-Senoi dream communities over the years we have worked with dreams in natural settings at the ocean and in wilderness settings.
Native American art and religion has grown out of living in the wild country of America, especially in the old days before whites. We have found that whites can tune into the Great Spirit in nature through dreams and dreamwork, especially done in nature and within community.
When you ask, any suggestions? that seems such an open question.
Are you looking for affirmation of your work with dreams over the years? You can even have a dream that gives you perspective on what you are doing. How has your project itself come up in your dreams? I don't see how anyone outside your dreaming can give you suggestions when it seems for most of us working regularly with our dreams the suggestions that are important guidance do come from our own dreams.
Shamans and other outside guides and gurus are for weak people unable or unwilling to work on developing their innate inner dream source and wisdom source.
Try and dream the response to your own question: Any suggestions?
Seems to me the 'expert' is the dream and dream source, and a guide is someone who works with their own dreams regularly, and so can help others a bit in their work with their own dreams.

I have recorded 12,017 dreams to date, spanning 44 years. I have an object called the dream medicine arrow which came out of a dream. There are 12 symbols on this arrow. All of my dreams can be connected to this arrow, because each symbol is connected to one or more of eight major symbols which is a blueprint which underlies my total dream record. Currently I am working on dreams of a bundle, because a little bundle is tied to the arrow. Following all my bundle dreams, there's two more symbols left, the circle and tree; the point of the arrow is a tree. This has taken me 21 years. Reason for this is when I first recieved it in a dream as a branch I was told it would give me the power to move in and out of all past dreams and undertsand the goal of all my dreams. The creative is the poems based on the dream series of each symbol. When it's finished I will get the picture of the myth shaping my life and the real meaning behind the arrow. But it came with a task, a medicine. I was adopted into a prestigious First nation family of powerful dreamers. And the medicine is connected to the healing of the community. This is a long process that involves my whole life. As a white man from England the cross cultural perspectives are mind boggling. And all this without training. Got any suggestions?

DID I DO THE RIGHT THING - DREAMS COMMENTING ON US? - First, Marion writes about dreaming of a crusty, sometimes abrupt growth leader and personality reader. And Marion related a life incident of leaving a family dinner when someone there was intrusive. Did I do the right thing? she wants to know, and what might her dream say about the issue?
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT IS THE RIGHT THING? Is there a right action in anything in life? A look at Marion's dream shows us a strong and definite dream figure, the personality reader, who acts as if she is certain about things and just expresses whatever feels right to her regardless of its effect on others.
ISSUE QUESTIONS - What style of life do you lead, want to lead, find the best to lead? Are you always committed to acting out of yourself regardless of its effects on others? Are there certain principles and truths you choose to live by? A woman once said she said to a man, If you ever hit me the relationship is over! Well, we see her values! Whether they are in reality or not is another question. Hopefully we want to live by values and life principles that work in reality. So is it better to live simply following your own feelings and choices, and accepting consequences for your actions? Or should you live in a reconciling way, always including the possible reactions of other people as you make your choices? Should you live consciously, acting only when you know what you are doing? Or should you live more impulsively, acting out of the feelings and emotions that stream through you? Are you enough aware of the values and principles you want to live by in life, and are you living by them, and what results from this? Is it possible there are no right and wrong answers to anything? Only direct experience and how we do and don't deal with it? Maybe life as experience is simply "what we choose is what we become?" We are our experiences so why judge them? We upset people, we make people happy, we get upset ourselves we feel joy at times, so what? What if we just live each moment as it comes being as much in tune with what is happening in us and in the moment? What kind of life would that create for us?
These questions indicate different attitudes about how to live life. Only we can choose what we live by and take the consequences of all our choices. So maybe your responsibility is to yourself and let others deal with what that evokes in them? Or would you rather act in accordance with others' wishes and expectations so that you can spend a lot of time trying to figure out what others want and how to make them feel good, or whatever they want to feel? Maybe you want to spend as much of your life energy as possible on making others feel good and happy and that you don't really need to know what you want or what you most value because you need your energy for others? A bit of kidding here, of course! Good luck with the issues!

I was with a female spiritual teacher who has, in reality, a crusty persona that can be kind of abrasive at times. In my dream she was doing a reading of my energy field and I was smiling at her, She smiled back and asked why, and I said something like "Because I'm quite taken with you." As she was reading my energy field, I knew she was seeing something very positive, and there was a good feeling between us. This surprised me because I've seen her speak, and I wasn't sure I liked how abrupt she was with the audience. It also suprised me because the dream came on the heels of a dramatic event where I walked out of a family dinner with my 'inlaws' because my boyfriend's sister was being intrusive. I was shaken up afterwards, and didn't know what to make of what I had done, feeling unsure of myself. I'm wondering if this is a confirmation dream, because I had experienced so much uncertainty about what I had done!? Does the crusty female spiritual teacher appear as some kind of 'crone' energy to reinforce me?

I'm gonna park it at the next acceptable location. That's what I enjoy. Not driving it. We don't HAVE to enjoy driving it if we don't enjoy driving it. It's important to be effective at it though.

There was a family of four – mom, dad, boy, girl – who was traveling. I’m not sure if they were on another planet or a very remote part of this planet. They were in a minivan and they saw another minivan up ahead and they knew it was aliens. They took chase and the aliens went really quickly inside of a cave and then 2 walls came down and so it looked like there was no cave, only wall. (I am on the side of the aliens in this dream, not necessarily one of them – it’s still an observing dream – but I’m rooting for the aliens.) I think it’s clever about the wall. The humans come up and are trying to find a secret panel so they can get in. The aliens want the little girl, so they “create” a panel for just a minute to keep the humans distracted and then they open a part of the wall and the little girl walks in and then they close it again. The family tries for a long time to work on the secret panel but it keeps morphing into something else. They give up and go back to their van and hide nearby.
Fast forward to later – maybe years later. The aliens can no longer procreate which is why they wanted the girl. They have one boy alien that could possibly procreate. When the girl becomes of age, they start mating but either the pregnancy does not work or she loses the baby.
Meanwhile, back at the minivan, the humans are convinced that the aliens are not really aliens, based on several “artifacts” that the have found like a stick of dynamite. It is the human theory that the other people have been “posing” as aliens.
Meanwhile, there is another group of aliens that is making a hostile takeover from within. They are evil. They have no regard for the scientists that are really trying to save their race with science and knowledge. They have no regard for the average joe. They are power hungry and they all look alike. They gain power and start gathering everyone else up to work in slave camps for them. The scientists, who were wearing government badges, did not really think they would be captured. When it came time and they were captured, they were alarmed. The scientists had developed some special powers like to run faster than anyone and jump very high, and some things like that. They broke away as they were being captured and ran very fast away. They took a human child and an young alien man with them.
They had to leave the settlement in the cave and try to find somewhere else to go. I think I was one of them at that point. We were running very fast and a truck came very fast after us. We could not outrun the truck. It looked like a cross between a tank and a garbage truck but could go fast. I was asking the other guy if he could also jump very high because that may be the only way we could get away. We were jumping from picnic table to picnic table but then we noticed the truck stopped. They were all looking up and we thought they were looking up at us but we noticed it was a plane in the sky. We did not know if the people in the plane were on our side or not. We doubted everyone. The truck turned around and left but there were still some people around. They came towards us with weapons. At first we thought they were bad aliens left behind from the truck, but we realized they were human. We were arguing with the humans trying to convince them we were good aliens but they did not believe us because of our badges.
At first glance, before doing the dream cards, this is what I think.
What I was worrying about most yesterday was finances and the re-finance and the price of gas. I think that the cave represents a safe place and the human child represents our future. I am worried about our future (the human has trouble pro-creating.) I feel confidant that I can come up with creative solutions (the shape-shifting of the control panel – I feel in control.) The stick of dynamite represents the way the average human would see what I am doing. They wouldn’t think it was special or anything, or at least I’m worried that’s what they would think. I am worried that no matter what we do the people in power, Bush and Cheney and Halliburton (the evil aliens) will make it difficult for us to achieve our true purpose. I have powers that they don’t have. They represent power hungry old- fashioned truck and tank. I represent being able to rely on my own strength because of the new way of doing things which is co-operation and science and caring. It will be hard (having to leave the cave and be on the run {work towards my true security}) but I can do it.
What strikes me as the theme of this dream is powers (the power to shape-shift the control panel and run very fast and jump high.) The main action is running. The main characters are alien, or I guess I should say “them”.
If I could change anything about this dream it would be this: I would try to get other humans empowered the same way. (Am I hiding my light under a bushel? What is the best way I can help others without risking too much?) I would have been able to see the evil coming way before it did and prepare better. (This I think is not just me but a global theme – why have we not been doing electric cars or better mass transit or something way before this?) Also, being on the run – I was definitely not comfortable being on the run which I think represents a lack of preparation.
Overall, this is my meaning. I have become very empowered. I feel that I can do many things that average people cannot do. I do not feel yet that I have been able to help average people with this knowledge. I feel that I have allowed myself to get into a situation where I rely too much on people in power instead of my own powers. I may have to become uncomfortable to follow my true purpose.
Using Strephon's dreamcards:
The card I chose to represent power is called “forceful”. It shows a woman on the back of a lion. I love this card. It definitely represents my inner powers and strengths. It reminds me that I have this power and to use it by making appropriate commitments and responsibilities.
The card I chose to represent running is called regression. It shows a man facing a bull. Regression happens when the forces of going backwards are winning over a forward progressive movement. I think this card came up for 2 reasons – one is to remind me that it is my commitment to be debt free and I have done it before and can do it again. Another is to remind me to stick with my new commitment – to stop driving to work. These were the major themes of yesterday, and I think the main reason why I had this dream.
The card I chose to represent the aliens is called “emotions.” It shows a raven that looks evil but is also a rainbow bridge. The main theme of the card is to practice expressing feeling and emotional reactions to things as they happen. The funny thing is, I get this card every time I feel I have hit a wall and it’s always from not taking time to do dreamwork, meditate, pray, journal – do all the things that are important to me. I think this is one of “my” cards that I need reminding all of the time that I can’t just let emotions build up, I have good tools to deal with them and they are what gives me the power that I have and will help me overcome regression.

Greg, It is interesting that you found it a hassle to be in the driver's seat of your own life. All of us want a nice place to park forever (to quit doing unsatisyfing work.) but we all have to learn to enjoy being in the driver's seat of our life. Have you not discovered your true life's work? ARe you afraid of what you may have to do to get there?

I dreamed that some people with dogs were walking down the sidewalk and I didn't want to be bothered by the dogs so I got in my car on the passengers side and rolled up the window but the car started to roll and bumped the car in front of me.
I turned the wheel so that the tires would bump the curb but the car drove up onto the sidewalk. I felt very bothered and had to get behind the wheel, I drove around for a long time in a big parking lot looking for a place to park.
It had been parked at the old location for a long time and hadn't been towed. I didn't know if I could find a good location. I didn't want it to be towed.
I saw someone move a big semi-truck from next to a construction site so I thought I'd park it there but I woke up.
This may relate to my life in that I originally came to Korea as a temporary solution but I met a nice girl and stayed but I want to find a nice place to live and this isn't it.
Too cold in winter, too hot in summer and too toxic year round. I work too many hours and I'm going to school full time.
There are several options.
Quit school. I received a windfall from my parents and now finishing my degree doesn't make as much sense. I could quit work for a while and focus on school though.
But school is looking like a waste of time and money. It's preventing me from focusing on my own business.
I thought having the masters degree might help me get a better job in SE Asia when I go there but it may not even matter if I have a masters degree or not.
University jobs usually require it and are sometimes the best jobs but not always. I could teach elsewhere for less money if they also have less hours and I'd be just as content.
Of course I'd like to quit work, school and Korea and start enjoying retirement but not sure if I have enough money.
I want to parking my life in a new lush green place and tired of waiting for that.(Not next to a construction site. Yuck.)
I let myself get sidetracked by a pretty girl, by the thought of making more money having a degree, having more options and having more prestige with the degree. And also I'm scared of leaving a fairly good job even if I do work too many hours for a job that may turn out to be bad.
I've been stuck and can't decide. My contract finishes in November. I can make a move then.
Getting the girl to come with me is a problem because she's not finished with school. I feel loyalty to her and don't want to abandon her. I also need the feeling of connection being with her gives me.

About my dream. I guess what I was saying earlier, about sometimes not feeling in control of my own dream source. I'am wondering if you think it is possible that other people can intrude in or influence dreamers while they are sleep. Weird Question...potientally serious problem when you don't even feel in control of your dreams, a good sign of insanity but because we are sleep are we vunerable to this? Maybe I should get a dream catcher by my bed.

Forgot to break up my prvious comment. Anyway, I dreamed of a sapphire blue cute baby horse previously. I hugged it and got his slobber on my shirt which I just wiped off. Today I dreamed of another blue horse. This one was wearing a gold crown but it was like a suit made of some kind of cloth that someone would wear at disneyland.
Makes me think of the Mongolian and Tibetan idea of a windhorse. Anyway, what do you think recurring dreams mean. 2 pigs and 2 horses.

Twice I've dreamed of pigs. The first time they were going to kill one on the ice rink and they didn't give me skates cause of that. They had put mops all around it to soak up the blood. I disapproved of their plan. Next time I dreamed I was supposed to get a coat with brass tacks that was being delivered to the back door of the studio of the talk show host on a cable station where I was working in the dream. I went to pick it up and the guy handed it to me wrapped around a pig. I complained to him and asked why he also is delivering a pig? I thought it was cute though. I put it down. It looked tired and was going to rest. I heard people make plans to kill it. I didn't get the skates. I didn't deliver the coat. I didn't open my mouth and object to killing the pig. What's going on with me Strephon? I'm usually good with dreams.

I dreamed that I was replacing the heating system of my house. I have been living in my father's house for some years now, since his death 10 years ago. I previously reported a dream in which a boiler inspector told me the boiler was too small for this same house. I took the "boiler" to be a symbol of my libido or life energy source. My dream ego has at peace this time happy to see the heating system on the way to replacement whereas in the previous dream, the dream ego fought very hard against the idea that the boiler was too small. The dream ego, of course, was taking the the whole thing literally, not interpretting the boiler and heating system as a symbol. The dream ego was at pains to explain why I wasn't installing the new heating system myself (I work as an independent HVAC technician). Instead, I was receiving a quotation from one of the contractors for whom I currently sell my services. In the dream, I am saying I don't do "residential" work, only commercial and industrial, which is not true. I suspect that "someone" else installing the new heating system. I am certain the heating system is symbolic of libido as before because I had a great "a ha" moment when, remembering the dream, the interpretation dawned on me. Reminder: I have always felt I had less of a life force than normal: lacked normal self-assertion, sexual impulse, etc. I am not sure why I would find it so positive to have "someone else" install my new heating system.

Thanks Strephon. Your questions sparked some thoughts. After the dream I wondered, 'why have i let myself be here so long, waiting for something from my boss for so long?" I think I needed this "reality experience" because I was allowing myself to depend on others too much to take me where they can't take me -for "me" - especially in this situation. It's like i'm waking up to the fact - again - that I am in the wrong workplace. That, plus more than one of the women i work with is in an abusive relationship, so there is a weird energy set up there, and they become abusive themselves. I thought it woudl change but because I'm outnumbered I know i'm on my way somewhere else, but this time I will ask more questions, observe the reality there, and follow my intuition better. It's been a powerful lesson.

SKW: CAN DREAMWORK HELP?
Kara, you asked this question so we focus on the technique of Rewriting The Dream. Of course you have issues in the dream and in the job situation. The dreams help us see our issues as our own responsibility. Sometimes the dream only dramatizes what the real issue is. Other times it will offer a creative solution. Writing The Dream means rewrite the dream but this time have your dream ego, you in the dream, be more effective in solving the dream problem, however that come to you.
This will show you also that in a job situation, which you describe very well, it is clear, but what is unclear is your ways of handling the situation effectively for you.
POSSIBILITIES FOR BEING MORE EFFECTIVE
When you need a ride home, speaking in terms of the dream, it is important to get that need met. Having someone else arrange a solution for you, but which did not work, can tell you something about trusting or not trusting others. The woman could have taken you home, or to her house, but it did not happen with her, hence your ineffectiveness.
Regarding the kitchen ’island’ there are always obstacles in life. You can let them put you in fear or you can choose to live by a positive attitude like, this obstruction can keep me alert and awake to dangers.
Regarding your job situation, what is the teaching?
One possibility is that you need to develop more reality awareness based on experience. Of course in life we want to use well our talents and values but we also have the effects on others to deal with. Thus we learn to accept others as they are and deal with them with conscious awareness.
You can ask yourself, why did I not know and act on the dangers in this situation? Was I not smart enough, not aware enough? Or was I making myself unconscious through too much confidence or self-importance and thus blinding myself to situations as others see them and me?
Don’t take it personally. Use your abilities not to make yourself all important, but to live for values that include yourself and the others you have to deal with. --Strephon
SKW: ANALYZING SITUATIONS AND PEOPLE
Lloyd, probably you got out of the drug addiction through the personal relationship with your wife. I had a good Norway friend who did so.
POSSIBLE TEACHING: certain situations of life and the psyche cannot be handled alone. Once we have gone over the edge on something it seems much easier to go over the edge again. At least until the years go by and we are stronger. Some children of our youth do develop and prosper, while others live a life that goes downhill. Ask yourself, is it analyzing or grounded relating or both that keeps you grounded and more towards center than at the edge and over?
Yet you will always have the tendency and want to go over the edge, to test the limits and exceed them. Why this need if not to break up the too rational mind. Make sure you feed your rational mind in safe ways so you do not react against it. Just suggestions for issues. --Strephon
SKW: THE GROUP DREAMER
kris, in working with ongoing dreamers for many years, especially on summer intensives in wild nature, it seems that sometimes someone dreamed a collective group dream. What we were living through got into the dream. Thus certain people have the ability to dream the group’s experience.
SKW: DREAM TIME AND DREAM REALITY
We found also that in terms of linear time, day by day, the Dream Source ‘lives’ by Eternal Now Time. There is no past, present and future, which is a reality construct of the culture and the mind, anyway. Thus if you are simply experiencing your existence without linear time boundaries it makes sense that you include your dream turtles and the business foam turtles and the meeting and the purpose of the meeting are all happening at once. For you personally what is the teaching: is it that networking that truly works in life is the right people connecting for a shift together? Through Social Synchronicity we are always connecting with the right people at the right time. Only most of us are so in our labels and agendas that we fail to see the true potential we can develop with the right others. We can remember that we do better usually as easily-connecting teams of natural and common purpose. Your dream psyche might want you to recognize this deeper level of the collective unconscious and choose consciously to live by it. The problems of alienation are most likely due to being only superficially connected to others because we do not operate at a deeper level than just ego awareness. We stay unconscious of the unconscious to our peril! Does it make some sense? --Strephon

Recently I dreamed that I was on a campus and was summoned by a guide/ teacher figure to come to his store nearby. AS I was approaching the place it became very dark and i had to feel my way there in the dark. When I got in the store he was there but a woman was there who began doing energy work on me. He wanted her to give me a ride home but she said she had somewhere else to go. Later in the dream i was in her house -which i liked - but it becamse apparent that she had lied about needing to go elsewhere. She was having a party in her house and when I was in the kitchen there was an area of floor that was liek a raised up island and i said how I thought i would accidentally fall off of that all the time.
I am not sure who the woman represents at all! I work in an all-woman office a few days a week and the boss is an older woman. I am not liking it because i have to stay under her thumb and there has been a lot of gossip about me there. I have slowly lost my confidence in myself which is shokcing to me. I feel a strong atmosphere of silencing...to not share wmy gifts and knowledge....as if it's egotistical. I was given the top job and other were jealous so they poisoned the atmosphere against me and I lost a second better-paying 3 year contract because of this. I'm at a stage where i would just like to leave and get my confidence and power back but feel like I am recovering from an abusive relationship where I've been told all kinds of things about myself - brainwashed I guess. Can dreamwork help guide me out of this?

Dream #2: I am at a drug house which I frequented during a short but disasterous period of drug abuse in 1984 with my current wife. The people in the house are insane on "crack". My wife and I analyze them one by one. A bully from my schoolboy days is there. We observe him and go over psychological issues about him. I ask him and others about a whole list of kids from my youth, what happened to them, etc. My wife and I discuss the psychology of each.

Some of my thoughts/feelings on these fragments are:
The turtles are forming a circle and there's two different kinds of them. It's a very special thing in the dream, it doesn't happen anywhere else on earth. I think the circle probably has significance. My sense is this could be a "time of life" dream. I'm 54 and perhaps entering a time of life in which more integration of yin/yang dark/light etc. it possible. I think there are probably many different ways to look at this dream..I'm actually still working on it.
I think the Bon Jovi dream is a straight up expression of classic Jungian animus. It's very direct though, I remember having so many dreams in which the male part/animus was so illusive.
As for the dragon. I'm not really sure. I love the idea of the dragon as my unconcious. It also feels like power. So I'm not totally in touch with my own power but it can sit next to me in the car and we can learn to talk/communicate?
Linda, USA - Monday, April 16, 2007 at 14:54:58 (CEST)
this dream reminds me of a very powerful dream I had about sea turtles. I was swimming in a rocky ocean inlet and there were many of them resting at the shallow bottom. I was with a friend that wanted to 'get rid' of them but I knew we had to protect them. The interesting post script to this dream is about 2 days later, at a networking meeting. I arrived to find a little foam turtle at every place setting. There must have been 50 of them. (One of the members had put their business information on them and was using them as a marketing tool). Since it was a breakfast buffet meeting the only other things on the tables were wine goblets filled with water or turtles under water. Imagine my surprise and delight to find my dream expressed in my life this way! Would love to hear any opinion you would like to share.

Don't be overly influenced by what comes to my mind, but the dragon would most likely represent the undeveloped parts of the unconscious that need nurturing.
The turtles (self protectiving entities) might be special intuitive facilities emerging from the lake (the unconscious) to help you look deep into the unconscious for self-understanding and wisdom (deep holes in the earth suggest to me ways to peer deep into the unconscious).

It's been quite a while since I've posted. I haven't been as active in working with my dreams as I would like. I just found a dream that was very important at the time. I recognized something important in it, but then I forgot I wrote it down. It's got some archetypal energies in it perhaps -- turtles and a dragon.
Here's the dream fragments. They were all dreamed on the same night. The fragments happened in this sequence in rather quick succession.
The famous rock star Bon Jovi is making love to me and I’m trying to dissuade him but I accept it when I realize he’s sincere. (I have always thought he was very handsome in real life.)
There are two kinds of turtles coming out of a lake and forming a circle around two holes in the earth. It is said in the dream that this is the only place on earth where this happens, and so it is special.
I have given birth to a baby that I have to have checked out. I go to the doctor and he tells me it’s a baby dragon. The creature starts to grow up. The doctor emphasizes that the baby dragon isn’t mean but needs some special care and training. The baby dragon can fit in the passenger side of a car. We can’t talk but we can learn telepathy.

Dream #1: I meet "Loraine", a girl from High School who I never had the courage to date even though she was very direct at first in showing she was interested in me and was very attractive to me, at her family's business. In spite of her age, I am stunned by how beautiful and perfect her skin was, still. She introduces me to relatives and I start interviewing regarding consulting work in my real field. It goes on and on. . .

I am happy to report that in a 2-day period I had a major up-tick in remembering dream. It felt like a window opened when the dream came back to me a few minutes after awaking. At first, all I could do was remember I had been dreaming. Then the dream memory came streaming in the window.

DREAMING SEXUAL PREFERENCE: Do dreams indicate our sexual preferences?
Do dreams indicate what we should do in life? If we followed what our dreams seem to indicate would we be more fulfilled in our lives?
If we 'do it' in our dreams, is that enough, or should we also 'do it' in outer life for increased fulfillment?
Fundamental is how much you decide to follow your dreams in life. It seems that many of our dreams do compensate our attitudes and outer life activities by showing us the opposite.
This compensation then helps us feel more fulfilled because we still feel the feelings, even though the dream experience remains only an inner experience.
Through the Internet now we all have an opportunity to experience 'deep passions' by the sexual activities shown there or available for buying.
Calling natural human sexual activity pornography, as if there is something dirty or wrong about it, denigrates this new resource for human expression.
Thus if your fantasies tend towards a certain direction you can pick your type of sexual activity and view it while being physical yourself. If there is some theme in the sex you watch then that corresponds to an inner dynamic. Perhaps enough watching of the sex will use up the energy by your experiencing that part of yourself.
Thus if you want to check out gay men screwing each other, some films will have them enjoying each other also, in other words, relating. If this turns you on it does not mean you are gay as a lifestyle.
Movies of sex are edited and focused. They are idealized. So you get to experience this homosexual part of yourself. There is no reason a male might not admire a male body. Existence in a body is nature's miracle. Enjoy and enhance it as long as you exist. Having feeling experiences with another human being, male or female, is amazing when it is working.
A lot of AIDS developed in the eighties when well-married men wanted to try the gay experience. They went to gay hang-outs, such as the public baths of San Francisco. This kind of acting out is not necessary these days since we have plenty of happy sex films to watch in our own privacy or with intimates. Sex is a great activity to get to know ones body and another person. It also is a life affirming experience.
Yet, we cannot just act out all our sexual fantasies and feelings, can we?
We establish a life style. We are with someone. We can normally have sex with either sex, but we love someone and they are only one sex, just as we are.
Therefore we choose and we live an everyday life. But for the sides of ourselves that are not fulfilled in the outer we have to find cultural ways to fulfill our non acting-out parts so this need for self-expression does not get in the way of the actual relating with an actual partner that we do in our everyday lives.
Identity does not have to be based on the genitals. I like to sexually play and be stimulated by one kind of genitals only, we might say.
Wholeness means encompassing the opposites. So why worry about whether you are gay or straight?
If a dream brings up a behavior, ask yourself how you can fulfill this aspect at a feeling level so that you feel more whole in your life expression.
One does have to be careful in sexually expressing oneself that one uses some of that energy creating ones life as well.
Thus the masculine is also expressed in work activities that are a success in the world. Give some of the life force directly to sex, but some of the life force also to working damn hard in life and accomplishing things of value and necessity.
You are only free within yourself when you act freely and integrate all your parts, repressing none, yet staying in reality as to what you can safely act out and what is too dangerous in taking all your energy.
My views expressed here come from working as a psychotherapist for many years with gay, straights and multi gender people. If nature demands it, create with the energy.
You have one life to live. That's it!
If you can make your situation conscious, then you have choice. What we choose is what we are.

My interpretation of a dream from an earlier post:
[Dream]Good day i am just curious. I would like to know more. And im kind of concerned with something so i would like to share.
I have been having this really weird homosexual dream of my friends sucking my dick now this hase happend twice with 2 different people. (in my dreams) how ever i do not feel attracted to males atleast i think i dont! Does this mean i am gay? Either way it hase been bodering me and i hope you can give me some clerification. [End Dream] My guess would be that you subconscious is telling you that your friends are insincerely "sucking up to you" or "flattering" you to try to get something from you. Just a guess to consider!

I don't seem to be having the kind of interesting dreams that I have described in the past in this forum.
Instead, I am having repetitive dreams rehashing the days events from which I awake and then go back to sleep and resume. The same thing in the same scence again and again.
For instance, I currently work as a heating technician. After stuggling to disentangle several hundred feet of sensor wire for an hour during the day, I dreamed incessantly about stuggling with tangled wire. Other times, I might dream about trying to find a failed component in a complex control board, etc.
I will wake-up thinking I am actually at work struggling with a problem. . . I fall back to sleep relieved that actually I am not immersed in any such difficulty.
Should I look for meaning in this type of dream, no you suppose?

Strephon, thank you for your comments on this dream I posted in December
There are 4 of us, at least one woman with me. We are in a beautiful valley somwhere but we need to get out. I want to go to Exeter, but don't know what country we are in.. There's a way out - an impregnable gate, which opens at 2 am ."Fair stinkum!" says the guard who tells us this.
You suggested I find a way of continuing the dream journey through the gate. I chose poetry - the same part of the brain as dreams, I've heard.
This is what I came up with:
Standing close
To the stage
I get a chance
To see myself
Shapes of figures
And feelings
Maybe shadows
Waiting to pass
Through the gate
Through the mountain
Only the guard
And the gate
Between us
Its getting dark but
I can see
Four of us
Outlined on the stage
At least one woman
And then I see the guard
Cheerful
And mocking
Youll have to wait
He says
Until the next time
The gate opens
At 2
In the morning.
Fair stinkum!
The place we are in
Is already thinning
In the night air.
As I stand looking
At the guard
And the gate
Memory
Self erasing
I know I am going
To coal mines and
Digging machines
And tar and cement
And the rumble
Of 747s
Ascending and descending
And the smell of jet fuel
Dumped overhead
And I know ?I am leaving
Open
Vulnerable
Beauty
So open
So vulnerable
I must now leave
And pass through
To that other place
And the guard is right
Fair stinkum!
It reeks there.
Rottenness
Masquerading
As new growth
Is all that grows
Yet still
I am impatient
To return
Unable to endure beauty
For more than a second
My time is up![
I hear myself saying
Even though
A glimpse here
Is eternal
And we have hours
To wait
Please! I want to return
To the place
Of illusion and fear
Im sure the guard here
Has seen my type before
A thousand times
My time is up!
He echoes
Pausing on every word
?Fair stinkum!?
At 11 am
the next morning
I see myself
On a different stage
In the shopping mall
There's a flicker
Of memory
A warm feeling
The guard
The gate
The gods and
Their cosmic jokes
And a passing thought
Was that really
Last night?
Or some time
Long before?
And unknowing
I weep
For something missing
The beauty
I left behind.
I feel the dream has opened somewhat, and I can move onto the next! It's been quite a journey. Thanks.

SEXUAL IDENTIFICATION IN DREAMS AND LIFE - Wolf, here are some thoughts based on experiences with people and myself.
-It is perfectly natural to have sex with either sex. The genitals, and even the emotions, don't discriminate, unless you have parental or societal attitudes that get in the way.
-Some homosexuals and lesbians identify with their sexual orientation, the labels, as a way of defining themselves. They make a culture out of this need for identity. Thus some people call themselves homosexual, heterosexual, lesbian, while others just go ahead and have sex with whomever they are inclined to according to circumstances and other factors.
-sexual labels and identities are based on identification with images and attitudes. The sexual-emotional instinct doesn't care whom you mate with.
-one of the consciousness tasks to do in life is to clear yourself as much as you can of any attitudes and identities around sex so that your sexual expression can be freely expressed and experienced as it is.
-sex is not love. Love is not sex. Do your loving. Have your sexual expression. Sexual expression can be part of loving but loving another and yourself is far more than sexual expression.
-regarding dreams and your dream, the dream could be suggesting a number of things. Someone sucking your dick could be giving you a gift of life in the moment, honoring your emotional manhood as well as physical.
- Why a guy and not a girl? What need do you have for emotional openess and intimacy? How is your relating with certain women different from with certain men?
-Is there a need for personal fulfillment in being sexual with men? Is sexual fulfillment with women working for you? Do you feel the need for power with certain men, being sucked off standing for submission to meeting your needs.
-sexual connecting is instinctual-emotional bonding. This need is strong in us when young and older. Just masturbating and not finding partners to mate and relate with can become a cop-out, a laziness or fear of intimacy to go out and find friends for intimate relating, going for eventually that one that you especially dance with.
-use all your sexual expression in dreams and life to learn about how things work emotionally and physcially with you.
-at last in the cultures of the younger generation the body, including the genitals, is being accepted as natural and every human's right to self-expression and bonding with others.
-So, do you need to bond more, not necessarily sexually? Do you need to open more to intimacy, sharing with men and women you are close with your true and intimate feelings? Sometimes sexuality in dreams and life also represents this.
-accept that you have a penis, a vital part of your being that takes you into life, and not away from it. Accept that you need to express determination, feeling, passion and decisiveness, that erections are a vital part of the life force and you can create your life with them and in companionship with others.
-focus on the erect penis, yours and other representations or those of others you are close with. Feel and see it as a tremendous power. Girls get to see and play with and experience a variety of erect penises, and the men who use them. Why shouldn't men be allowed to experience each other in action as well?
-It's all perfectly natural and the way we have as a species evolved. Enjoy, express, learn, be open, create your life with the energy that comes through you. Don't worry. Explore. Bond. Share.

Hi Strephon, I'm not feeling any desire yet to make any more art yet, but the unicorn symbol led to an amazing event. I saw it every day for almost ten days, then dreamt about it, then suddenly remembered a woman I had spoken to a year ago- someone I was going to connect with then - and I phoned her. I ended up visiting her in her house two Saturdays ago and when I went up into the kitchen she had two unicorn placks on the wall. She's a christian healer from Jamaica and very grounded. Since 2003 I've met a HIndu healer, Sufi healer and a Taoist healer and each has done somethign different for me, but i never expected to return full circle to my birth religion. Something with regards to that needs to be healed and resolved so I can connect with it in a healthy way and that process has definitely begun. When you hit the throat center and issues of guilt, forgiveness and judgment it seems like this is the next phase of healing. From my experience now, I can say that our energy systems seem to be encoded for the differemnt faiths and each healer does a different piercing of a different knot in that system. So it's a very unexpected turn of events, and that unicorn symbol was very powerful and frightening, but it got me where i need to be right now. In our first meeting we laughed a lot, and sang and ate so it was a very joyful, earthy kind of energy. And it was funny to finally see the woman I dreamt about a year ago (She was taking baggage out of the trunk of my car!) and her husband, who I dreamt about just two weeks ago. I actually dreamt about him twice - once he was trying to break into my apartment, then the next time, I saw him walking down the hallway laughing and smiling, and there was a light on in his apartment so I walked in. Identification on the lamp said, "Shiva," the hindu god that destroys negative energy. It's interesting thta I have now walked into his home in reality!
So having met these people now, I know I'm into the next phase of healing something in my life.
I know some people don't like the idea of healers and gurus - and I've been one of them- but my actual experience has been that whether I like it or not, a symbol appears in dreams and artwork as a way I' "called" to them. Because the call comes this way, I know something in me wants to be freed from something, even though it's scary. In each case, the healer has done something for me and released something from my body that no amount of therapeautic work could touch. The pattern was too deep, and my ego would not have wanted to let go of the story and would have wanted to stay in charge.
And none of them wants me to worship them or even asks for any money from me. They just do their service. i'm actually so grateful because the life changes since 2003 have been amazing. I guess this next Christian phase was too scary because I would have to meet with my own judgments of others and re-experience thta pain to move through it. And i didn't want to. But the process is underway,a nd i'm trusting it because of the amazing way it started. Thta's what keeps me hanging int here when the going gets tough.

ACTING OUT ARCHETYPES - Archetypes are not persons, they are great fundamental energies of the psyche. They can upset the balance between the ego and archetype, as we go through stuff. Therefore we need grounding in working with these great energies in our psyche.
Ellen, ground yourself. You may be evoking too much archetypal energy in yourself and in your environment by doing art, collages and so on.
If you do art, always put in a healing symbol and a symbol that represents yourself as choice-maker. Dont just express the raw archetype.
Another grounding: have sessions with a wise person who grounds you rather than one who evokes you, or one who does nothing much for you. You can sense the difference in how you feel during and after a session. Some Jungian analysts and therapists are good at this. If you dont have money get one who is starting out or will take you on for a helping value.
Christianity: as a religion it works for those who believe in its archetypal system. Christianity is a Collective Dream built up by thousands of peoples experiences to contain the archetypes. You are either in or out with Christianity. They want all of you if you are in.
Spiritual: if you cannot put yourself into any religious system to contain your archetypes then you have to develop an individual relation to whatever religious tradition you relate to.
The most important thing is the right guide. Are they grounded? Do they ground you?
A spiritual person relates to the symbols and beliefs or a religion. They do not identify with them. Both the Dalai Lama and the Pope sit on the toilet, just as you and I do. We are simply all human animals with some extra energy to act out archetypes, or create things of value out of them.
These gurus take on archetypal roles and have their followers do the practical for them. Religious masters are not usually integrated as persons but sometimes may be integrated within their religious context.
For you, you have to do the practical yourself. For now while you go through getting yourself together maybe it is better not to act out. Throwing your book away was symbolic. Don?t do outer things like this. It?s an inner struggle you are going through.
Maybe put away for now your tendency to evoke archetypes with art and writing. Be simple and everyday. Is there a retreat center where you are? The monasteries know about putting you to work at simple things, whether Zen or Catholic or Tibetan.
Dont let yourself go over the edge mentally and spiritually. Dont evoke more than you can handle. Right now you cant handle a lot, it seems.
Make some choices every day. Not big ones. Stay present to your ordinary self. Form a support group.
Its about all I can suggest from a distance. Hope my message is clear.
Strephon Kaplan-Williams, Netherlands-World - Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 11:58:05 (CET)
I'm having a lot of trouble. I dont' know if it's because I'm hittig archetypal energies in a big way or what is happening. Once i made the unicorn collage after the unicorn dream, I felt compelled to call a woman I had spoken wiht on the phone 2 or 3 times over the past year but had never met. She invited me to her house and when I got there she had 2 unicorn placks on the wall. She's a christian healer - which surprises me that I woudl be connecting with christianity again at this point in my life. But every time I get assigned a desk or seat somewhere lately - honestly, I get #33. I woke up in the middle of the night a few nights ago and felt like i had to throw away my notebook with all my ideas for a book I wanted to write because i was being drawn down another path. But tonight I'm beside myself because i think I did the wrong thing. I feel like so many tensions are pulling me in different directions and I don't know what to do. I feel i lost my book now because I was so influenced by whatever this is.
I've always thought it was bad to try to be saintly and now I have christ-energy coming up everywhere. I didn't even know the unicorn was a symbol of christ!

MEETING THE CHALLENGES IN THE DREAM - Quite a dream. At first I wondered if it was made up or really dreamed in the night.
Here seems to be the theme: Loosing parents and friends can indicate a challenge to your new independent self emerging. What if this actually happened this coming year?
Let's hope not of course. Yet, you can see it this way. Being young and emerging into adulthood how will you take more charge of your own life this year, think for yourself, make some money, get confident in handling your own life?
With those celebrities you mention, whom I don't know, what are they good at?
What does this show you can develop some of yourself?
So, as a teaching for yourself, meet the challenges of taking care of yourself this year in whatever ways that are possible.
Life is letting go of past things and people so that we can now meet new people and be new ourselves.
Don't be so afraid also of getting burned that you don't risk and act for a better you in life.
Have I made some sense for you?

I my dream I lost my parent and my sister and my aunt in a car that drowned in a lake. We drove off a bridge. I surrivied getting out of the car somehow with my cellphone and felt no breath. Then I went down a cool water slide and found out I lost one of my best friends. After we were in a race of Survior and my favorite charector Ozzy from Cook Islands I met. And we had a great meal with my other favorite actor Paul Walker. I got burned and fot injured then woke up.

NEW YEARS DREAMING - My new article on this subject is too long for this Forum, yet to the point.
The essence here is to record any dreams or thoughts from the night previous to New Years Eve. Do it for the night of New Years Eve, and do it for one more night, or until you have a dream you remember, the night after New Years Eve.
Now analyze for two themes: In your New Years dream are you losing energy or gaining energy in the activity you are doing? What is the activity you are doing? What is the theme or issue you are relating to in the dream or dreams? How does any of this relate to what you are doing or experiencing in life now?
Dreamwork: If your theme and behavior in a dream is positive, make a project for the coming year that embodies this behavior and theme.
Assume the Dream Source gives you a New Years dream as a perspective for you to focus part of your life on.
If the theme and behavior in the dream is negative or energy-draining, devise a project to do in the coming year that reverses the negatives here to becoming energy enhancing, not draining.
Assume the Dream Source wants you to focus on this negative aspect of your life and solve it this coming year.
If you want my full article on this theme you can write for it through this site.
May this coming year be more positive than negative for each of us!
